Liquid formulated based on copper self-defense enhancer in plants and its use.
The present invention relates to a liquid formulation based on copper enhancing plant self-defense, as well as the use thereof.
More particularly, the invention relates to a liquid formulation that allows to reduce the incidence and severity of the symptoms of diseases in plants, in particular of wood in vineyards.
Its use allows to improve the metabolic processes that occur during the different stages of development, improving the appearance of the treated plants, activating their self-defense and resistance to biotic and abiotic adverse conditions, thereby increasing the yield and production of crops. For this, the formulation includes menadione sodium bisulfite (MSB) together with copper in the form of copper sulfate, sodium lignosulfonate and essential plant amino acids that facilitate the assimilation of the components of the formula.
The formulation of the invention also acts as a stimulant of certain metabolic reactions of the basic plants for their development and growth. To complete its effectiveness as a plant stimulant, it includes in its formulation different amino acids of plant origin.
The MSB is a water-soluble addition compound of the vitamin group K (2-methyl-1,4-naphthoquinone) belonging to a new class of exogenous inducers of plant resistance to different diseases and viruses, as well as to numerous stress factors ( Rama Rao et al., "Menadione sodium bisulphite: A promising plant growth regulator", Plant Growth Regulation Volume 3, No. 2 (1985), pp .: 111-118, 1985). It is a component that acts as an elicitor, this is as an activator or exogenous inducer of resistance of plants to different diseases and viruses and the defensive plant response, in agricultural crops against certain adverse biotic conditions and various factors of abiotic stress (thermal, water, saline, etc.). They also act as a stimulant of certain metabolic reactions of plants, basic for their development and growth, as well as for their adaptation and resistance to various stressors.
The elicitor-activating action of the MSB on the natural defense mechanisms of the plant is due, in part, to the increase in endogenous indolacetic acid levels in the plants, together with an increase in the biosynthesis of phytoalexins and different defensive proteins. antioxidants of different nature. In this regard, phytoalexins are molecules of a phenolic nature (mono-polyphenols) that the plant itself creates to defend against pathogens (for which they are toxic molecules) ((Rama Rao et al., "Menadione sodium bisulphite: A promising plant growth regulator ", Plant Growth Regulation Volume 3, No. 2 (1985), pp .: 111118, 1985).
The formulation of the invention improves this protein biosynthesis thanks to its contribution of copper, which plays various roles in it, as shown below.
Copper acts as a catalyst for numerous enzymatic reactions, is part of the prosthetic group of numerous proteins such as ascorbic acid, phenol or cytochrome oxidases and the electron transport system of photosynthesis. It favors the use of nitrogen and protein synthesis, also acting as a chlorophyll stabilizer. He

Copper also favors the metabolism of phenolic substances and, therefore, enhances the resistance of the plant against pathogen attacks.
In addition, copper, by itself, is capable of interfering with spore germination when it is found in concentrations somewhat higher than usual in plant tissue. Similarly, the Cu + 2 ions replace the H +, K +, Ca + 2 and Mg + 2 ions present on the cell surface of fungal spores. This substitution causes an alteration of the semipermeability of the membrane, facilitating the penetration of the Cu + 2 ions into the cells. Inside the spores, the Cu + 2 ions are fixed on various chemical groups, for example imidazoles, carboxyls, phosphates, sulfhydric, amines or hydroxyls, present in numerous enzymatic proteins. This union produces a toxic effect (protein denaturation) that disturbs the correct cellular functioning.
Thus, for example in ES 2 201 911, "Use of compositions containing menadione and / or some (s) of its derivatives to biostimulate the natural defense mechanisms of plants, in order to counteract among others the damages caused by pesticides and herbicides ", aqueous solutions are described which may contain, interchangeably or together, as active components, Vitamin K3, soluble derivatives thereof [referably menadione sodium bisulfite or MSB] or sparingly soluble [referably menadione nicotinamide bisulfite or MNB], with respective concentrations between 0.0001 and 200 ppm, 0.001 and 10,000 ppm, 0.001 and 10,000 ppm, preferably Vitamin K3 between 0.001 and 100 ppm, MSB between 0.01 and 5000 ppm, MNB between 0.01 and 5000 ppm, for application in agriculture and horticulture, preferably by spraying the aerial part of the plant or by the irrigation system, being able to mix with various additives, such as organic and inorganic fertilizers, insecticide das, nematocides, fungicides, bactericides or herbicides.
ES 2332494 B1, "Use of menadione to increase tolerance to plant salt stress" refers to the use of an aqueous composition comprising menadione and / or some of its water-soluble derivatives to induce tolerance to saline stress in plants and / or seeds, wherein the aqueous composition comprises, in particular, 3.3 x 10-7 at 0.66 mM of menadione (Vitamin K3); 3.3 x 10-6 to 33.3 mM of a water soluble Vitamin K3 derivative which is a bisulfite selected from among menadione sodium bisulfite (MSB), potassium bisulfite, ammonium bisulfite or magnesium bisulfite; 3.3 x 10-5 to 33.3 mM of a vitamin K3 derivative of low water solubility which is a bisulfite selected from menadione nicotinamide bisulfite (MNB), menadione p-aminobenzoic acid bisulfite, menadione histidine bisulfite, menadione adenine bisulfite, menadione nicotinic acid bisulfite or menadione tryptophan bisulfite; or any combination of the compositions according to (a), (b) and / or (c).
EP 1538136 B1, "Fertilizer composition to stimulate the absorption of nutrients in plants", refers to a composition comprising a mixture of vitamin K and / or derivatives thereof, alginic acid and / or derivatives thereof and betaine.
EP2403336B1 describes plant treatment compositions, particularly food plant crops, in order to suppress the incidence of and / or the spread of fungi and pathogenic bacteria and other diseases in said plants, and to provide improved health of plants and / or improved yields of food plant crops, the plant treatment compositions comprising copper alginate salts and at least one amine and / or ammonia compound, wherein said compositions exclude other active ingredients in the suppression of pests and ingredients assets in the regulation of plant growth. Similarly, EP1535515B1 describes the use of a formulation containing copper for the control of plant diseases, comprising the formulation containing divalent copper and polyphosphate residues, where the amount of polyphosphate residues per a chemical equivalent of divalent copper is greater than an equivalent

chemical, the polyphosphate residue being at least one member selected from the group that includes pyrophosphate residues, tripolyphosphate residues, tetrapolyphosphate residues, trimetaphosphate residues and tetrametaphosphate residues.
An object of the present invention is to provide a liquid formulation that includes menadione sodium bisulfite (MSB), copper sulfate, sodium lignosulfonate and essential plant amino acids, which facilitate the assimilation of the components of the formula, the use of which improves metabolic processes that occur during the different stages of plant development, improving the appearance of the treated plants, activating their self-defense and resistance to biotic and abiotic adverse conditions, thereby increasing the yield and production of crops.
The liquid formulation of the invention includes water, thereby facilitating the complexation of copper with lignosulfonate, as well as, although to a lesser extent, with amino acids, thus facilitating the incorporation or absorption capacity of copper provided by the plant . Likewise, it produces a greater mobilization of copper in the plant, allowing its assimilation quickly, efficiently and abundantly and allowing it to reach the place where they should exert their action. Finally, the action of mSb by activating the plant's self-defenses allows the plant to respond to such attacks in a natural way and more effectively. Research in recent years suggests that amino acids and other organic acids of low molecular weight are complexing agents that naturally use plants in the adsorption and assimilation of secondary elements and micro elements (Mullins et al., 1986). Free natural amino acids have a medium complexation capacity, although all amino acids complex copper well (Lucena, Juan Jose, "The use of complexers and chelates in the fertilization of micronutrients", Ceres Magazine, vol. 56, No. 4, July -August, 2009, pp. 527-535, Federal University of Vigosa, Brazil).
In one embodiment, the liquid formulation of the invention has between 10 and 15% sodium lignosulfonate, between 15 and 25% copper sulfate, between 0.20 and 0.40% of MSB and between 1.30 and 1.75% of free amino acids of plant origin, the rest being water. The percentages by weight are expressed with respect to 100% by weight of the final liquid formulation.
In one embodiment of the invention, copper sulfate has a copper content of 25% by weight.
Preferably, the liquid formulation of the invention consists of 12% sodium lignosulfonate, 20% copper sulfate with a copper content of 25%, 0.40% MSB, 1.60% amino acids free of plant origin and 66% water.
It is also the object of the invention to use the formula described above to reduce the incidence and severity of the symptoms of diseases in plants, in particular of the wood in wine. As mentioned, its use allows to improve the metabolic processes that occur during the different stages of development, improving the appearance of the treated plants, activating their self-defense and resistance to biotic and abiotic adverse conditions, thereby allowing to increase the yield and Crop production. The formulation of the invention also acts as a stimulant of certain metabolic reactions of the basic plants for their development and growth.
In a preferred use of the formulation of the invention, it is incorporated into the soil by fertirrigation, drip irrigation, sprinkling or distributing it in areas close to the plant under blanket irrigation, in the initial stages of crop development, to stimulate new root formation. The dose of the formulation and the invention to be used is 20 to 40 liters per hectare of crop and bell.

Example 1
An assay of the formulation of the invention was carried out to evaluate its effect on diseases of the wood of the vine.
Specifically, a trial was carried out with three vineyard areas of the Tempranillo variety, applying in each case by radicle to one of them the formulation of the invention and, for comparative purposes, a liquid fertilizer of those commonly used in this type of crops. As control, an untreated area was defined. Three applications were made in three consecutive weeks of the formulation of the invention and the comparative formulation at a rate of 30 l / ha, before flowering.
An experimental control was carried out in the three areas, for which a symptomatic diagnosis was made (symptoms of Eutipiosis, length of branches, symptoms of Tinder), a study of nutritional status and the response to abiotic stress (foliar analysis, measures physiological photosynthesis and water stress), as well as a phytopathological study (fungus isolation in wood samples).
The results are shown below:
 % Tinder Incidence Reduction
Formulated Area of the Invention  41%
 Comparative Formulated Area  -29%
 Untreated area  -39%
 % Tinder Severity Reduction  k
Formulated Area of the Invention  39%
 Comparative Formulated Area  fifteen%
 Untreated area  -twenty-one%
 * McKinney Index
As can be seen in the table, in the areas treated with the formulation of the invention there was a reduction in the incidence of Tinder in the strains, while in the areas not treated or treated with the conventional formulation this parameter increased significantly. On the other hand, in the areas treated with the formulation of the invention and with the comparative formulation a reduction in severity is observed, this reduction being much greater in the case of the formulation of the invention, of the order of 2.6 times less.
As for the abiotic stress in the symptomatic strains, the results of the photosynthesis, stomatic conductance and perspiration values measured in the vineyard areas under study are shown in Figure 1.
The results show that all the strains treated were obtained higher values than the untreated strains. However, in all the variables measured the strains treated with the
formulated of the invention show better values than in the strains treated with the conventional product, in some cases similar to those of the untreated strains.
